October lineup of Libraries workshops now available

WVU Libraries is announcing its October workshops, specially designed for graduate students, those in methods classes, and those working on theses and dissertations. The Libraries Research Support & Engagement team offers a wide variety of workshops including research strategies, citation management, data analysis and management, R and Python programming and more. 

Students are encouraged to take advantage of these resources to help streamline your research process, reduce stress and focus on making meaningful contributions to your field. Our team of experts is dedicated to supporting you on your research journey, offering insights on how to effectively leverage library resources and open access tools.

Getting Started with Literature Reviews 
Wednesday, Oct. 2 | 3-4 p.m.

Why and how do you start a literature review? Join this workshop to explore the essential steps of conducting a literature review and learn how to make the process smoother and more efficient. We’ll demonstrate how to use tools like Zotero, a literature review matrix, and subject databases to organize your research and stay on track. Whether you're just starting out or refining your approach, this workshop will equip you with the skills and strategies you need to succeed.

First Steps with R and RStudio 
Wednesday, Oct. 9 | 3:30 - 5 p.m.


R/RStudio is open-source statistical analysis software, freely available for personal computing devices. In this workshop, participants will gain an introduction to fundamental concepts for operating R functions and learn how to enter and read data in R. No prior experience with R is required.

Zotero: A free and easy to use citation manager 
Wednesday, October 16 | 1-2 p.m.

This in-person workshop is for participants engaged in research-based assignments and projects on how to save, format, and share research and sources using the citation manager, Zotero. Save time by categorizing your research and generating citations in different formats. Interested participants should bring a laptop with Zotero downloaded and installed using this guide
