First Graduate Ombudsperson to support grad students

Kayla Follmer, associate professor of management at the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, will serve as the first WVU graduate student ombudsperson, beginning her three-year term this fall.

Graduate and professional students are encouraged to contact Follmer at gso@mail.wvu.edu.

The GSO can:

  • Listen and serve as a resource to help you evaluate options and make decisions.
  • Coach you through tough conversations and circumstances.
  • Provide information about University policies, procedures and resources.
  • Discuss potential strategies or approaches on how to resolve an issue.

The ombudsperson is not a part of the University administration and will serve as a confidential, independent and neutral resource throughout the academic year.

Conversations will be informal and held in strict confidence, offering assistance for those who voluntarily seek services. The GSO does not take sides in any matter and will be available for both in-person and virtual meetings.
