Students or supervisors
encountering concerns or challenges with a graduate assistantship are
encouraged to seek advice and assistance from the following or other
relevant sources, as appropriate and in this sequence if possible: the
student’s advisor or program director, the chair of the student’s
department, the associate dean for graduate affairs in the student’s
school or college, the supervisor’s own supervisor, the Office of Graduate
Education and Life.
Graduate assistants are
not technically considered to be employees, and so WVU Talent and Culture does not hold any
jurisdiction over assistantship arrangements. However, guidelines and
procedures relevant to employees (see especially
Employee Relations), and the Student
Employment Handbook may
be helpful in guiding resolution of some problems.
