The Humanities Summer Internship program is an innovative opportunity for doctoral
students in the humanities to gain transferable skills for career paths inside
and outside academia. This program provides competitive funding for doctoral
students enrolled in the Departments of History or English to participate in internships in nonacademic settings such as publishing, nonprofit organizations,
museums, and community historical groups. By working outside their departmental
home, these students develop valuable abilities to communicate complex ideas
to public audiences, advocate for important social causes, and apply their research
skills to new areas of inquiry. Award amounts will range between $2000 and $4000;
award amounts are at the discretion of each department, and departments may provide additional
funding to support students.
