I study the intrinsic properties of pulsars, rapidly rotating neutron stars that emit radio waves like a lighthouse. My research so far has been on rotating radio transients, pulsar-like object that emit pulses highly sporadically, and how they relate to canonical pulsars and possibly fast radio bursts. I plan to start conducting research for the North American Nanohertz Gravitational Wave Observatory (NANOGrav) to help characterize the intrinsic noise of the pulsars being timed so that we can find a stronger gravitational wave signal. After getting my PhD I would like to continue doing pulsar research at a large university or a national laboratory.
