WVU’s suite of graduate fellowships offer incoming doctoral students the special opportunity to focus on their coursework and research without using student loans or the responsibility of serving as a graduate assistant to finance their degree. Graduate fellowships support outstanding incoming doctoral students across all disciplines (unless stated otherwise for specific fellowships). We seek nominations from departments/programs across the campus community for graduate student applicants who will begin full-time, on-campus coursework in the fall semester of 2019. Students cannot directly apply for fellowships. (Visit the Fellowships and Scholarships page for more information about fellowships for incoming graduate students.)
The nomination deadline for the Ruby Distinguished Doctoral, Swiger, STEM, Du Bois, and University Provost Fellowships is Sunday , February 10, 2019, no later than 11:59 p.m. Note that nominees' online graduate admissions application must be completed by the time the nomination is submitted by the department/program (We strongly encourage departments/programs to inform prospective graduate students to complete their online admissions application by February 1, 2019.)
Nominators must submit a letter of support on behalf of their prospective students. The letter of support is expected to:
