W.E.B. Du Bois Fellowships

Academic College/School Nominations Deadline: Monday, January 31, 2022, by 11:59 p.m. 

Dr. William Edward Burghardt Du Bois received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1896, and provided a standard of excellence for scholarship in any discipline and an especially inspiring model for black scholars. Because of the achievements of Dr. Du Bois, West Virginia University has named this fellowship program in his honor. This fellowship is open to African American/Black graduate and professional students, excluding students in the Health Sciences. Selection is competitive on the basis of academic merit and potential for success in graduate or professional study.




Nominations must be submitted by an academic program; students cannot apply for this fellowship. Nominators should visit the Fellowship Nomination Information page for instructions on how to nominate students.
